The Stonewall Brigade Band, the pride of Staunton, kicks off its annual summer concert series
There are hundreds of community bands throughout the United States. One U.S. website lists nearly 900 such musical groups. Many of them play outdoor concerts during the summer months. The small town of Staunton, Virginia about 250 kilometers from Washington boasts the longest continuous community band supported by local tax dollars.
 

As VOA's June Soh reports, the townspeople can enjoy an outdoor concert every Monday evening during the months of June, July and August. Carol Pearson narrates.
