There are few things more exciting than the birth of a baby, and few that will have a greater financial impact on parents

It is expensive to raise a child in the United States. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates it will cost a middle-income family more than $200,000 to raise a child through high school graduation. This estimate includes housing, food, clothing and childcare expenses. 

Add in the cost of a college education and the estimate can rise significantly.
